When he rose from the dead, he announced his victory over the spirits in hell (1 Peter 3:19). “Having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross” (Colossians 2:15). The dragon “was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven” (verse 8). This does not mean that the devil ever had a place in heaven, since he was cast out by God. “Heaven” again refers to the spiritual realm.
